Objective

Review the secondary EI-5.1 development queue after the flagship review, distinguishing worthwhile editorial improvements from unnecessary rewriting or speculative media restoration.

Decisions

The Intercom — retain as written

The restored piece is concise and historically grounded. Its value is the remembered school-broadcasting workflow and the connection between early media production and later journalism/technology work.

Decision: No second prose rewrite. Preserve the current historical framing, date, permalink, and recovered audio.

Random videos from the 1980s — retain as written

This is intentionally a small collection record rather than a developed essay. Expanding it would invent significance that the surviving material does not require.

Decision: Preserve as a compact historical media note. Do not promote it to flagship status merely to enlarge the retained corpus.

Journalism & Media Portfolio — retain structure; enrich only from verified artifacts

EI-3.4 correctly consolidated eight legacy portfolio pages into one curated page. The page should remain a portfolio, not be rewritten into memoir or résumé prose.

Decision: Keep the current structure. Future enrichment is justified only when an original clip, scan, PDF, screenshot, audio/video artifact, or other production-safe source can be positively matched to an existing portfolio entry. Do not add generic stock imagery or reconstruct missing work from memory.

A limited paco.org-related Drive search during this sprint did not establish a sufficiently reliable artifact-to-entry match to justify production changes. No unrelated Drive material was inspected for editorial purposes.

Narcopapa (2005) — preserve record; do not emulate missing Flash

The current post accurately records the surviving Flash-era experiment and the fact that the original .swf is not in the production repository.

Decision: Do not rewrite the prose and do not create a speculative HTML/JavaScript recreation. A future media treatment is appropriate only if the original artifact is recovered and can be safely converted or documented without inventing behavior.

Editorial finding

EI-5.3 confirms the pattern found in EI-5.2: the retained corpus does not benefit from repeated rewriting simply because an item once carried an EI-1 REWRITE disposition. EI-3.4 already performed the necessary migration/editorial work.

The remaining value is now primarily in relationships among pieces, curation, provenance, and selective artifact enrichment.

Privacy and preservation constraints

• No DELETE/privacy material was used as editorial context.
• No associated private media was restored.
• No historical artifact was fabricated to fill a gap.
• Existing historical dates and stable permalinks remain unchanged.
• Google Drive remains archival/master storage; production media belongs in GitHub only when positively identified and required by the site.

Result

EI-5.3 closes with no substantive prose rewrites and no speculative media restoration.

This is the appropriate editorial outcome: preserve the secondary material that still carries documentary value, resist padding weak records into essays, and defer artifact enrichment until the source evidence is strong enough.
