EI-7.2 — paco.org Authored-Publication Model

Status: COMPLETE Date: 2026-08-08

Objective

Make paco.org unambiguously the home of Francisco I. Rodríguez’s personally authored publication while preserving historical collections and maintaining PTIR continuity until its later migration to paco.io.

Canonical publication model

• Blog is the chronological stream of Francisco-authored posts.
• Featured is a curated subset of authored Blog material.
• Subjects are topical discovery filters for authored material.
• The Loudmouth remains a distinct historical collection.
• PTIR remains temporarily hosted on paco.org as an AI-assisted operated publication, not as Francisco-authored work.

Topic alone does not determine domain placement. Technology and Teaching remain valid paco.org subjects when the material is personally authored.

Route governance

• /blog/ is now the canonical authored publication route.
• /writing/ is preserved as a compatibility redirect to /blog/.
• Existing authored post permalinks are unchanged.
• Existing PTIR post permalinks are unchanged.
• /ptir/ remains available during the transition.

No PTIR extraction or cross-domain redirect was performed in EI-7.2.

Authorship boundary

PTIR is removed from primary navigation and homepage promotion. The PTIR landing page now states explicitly that the reports are produced through an AI-assisted operated workflow and that paco.io is the intended later destination.

Global metadata no longer emits Francisco I. Rodríguez as the author for PTIR editions or the PTIR landing page. Authored paco.org content retains the Francisco author identity.

Discovery boundary

The following authored discovery surfaces explicitly exclude PTIR briefings and collection records:

• /blog/
• /featured/
• /categories/
• homepage Featured and Recently Written sections
• /feed.xml

The site archive now separates the authored Blog chronology from PTIR and The Loudmouth rather than presenting all post types as a single authorship stream.

RSS

The stable /feed.xml route is now an explicit authored-only Atom feed. The generic jekyll-feed plugin was removed from _config.yml so PTIR cannot be silently reintroduced into Francisco’s Blog feed.

PTIR feed migration remains an EI-7.5 responsibility because destination URLs and automation dependencies must be inventoried before changing publication delivery.

Site chrome

Primary navigation now uses:

• About
• Teaching
• Blog
• CV

PTIR remains reachable through the footer, archive, direct URLs, and the optional terminal, but is labeled as an operated publication rather than authored work. The legacy terminal command writing remains as a compatibility alias for blog.

Quality gates

scripts/editorial_quality_gate.py now protects:

• /writing/ → /blog/ compatibility routing;
• canonical ownership of /blog/;
• authored Blog exclusion of PTIR;
• authored-only RSS behavior;
• PTIR author-meta suppression;
• absence of PTIR from primary navigation and homepage promotion;
• explicit PTIR operated-publication disclosure;
• PTIR exclusion from Featured and Subjects.

Existing EI-6 accessibility, Hayes Smartmodem, governed-media, provenance, taxonomy, permalink, and privacy protections remain in place.

Privacy

EI-1 privacy exclusions remain binding. Material classified DELETE, including the protected historical posts involving Ben and/or Sophie, was not restored, migrated, surfaced, or used as a production source during this sprint.

Deferred work

EI-7.2 intentionally does not:

• move PTIR content to paco.io;
• change PTIR permalinks;
• implement cross-domain redirects;
• modify PTIR publishing automation;
• modify idtprof.net, paco.io, or firg.xyz.

Those dependencies remain for EI-7.3 through EI-7.6, with PTIR extraction specifically reserved for EI-7.5.

Result

paco.org now has a clear authored-publication model: Blog is the chronological authored stream, Featured is its curated subset, Subjects provide topical discovery, historical collections remain distinct, and PTIR is visibly separated as an operated publication pending migration.
